Effective and well-functioning EWCs in post – Covid era

Kick off meeting online – 7 november 2022

online

The purpose of the  online meeting was to discuss the basic premises of the project (its research part and training part). The project focuses on the right to information and consultation in the metal industry.

The value of the project is to bring together partners from a variety of countries, including candidate countries. In the case of the latter, in particular, there is a need to provide a package of knowledge on the functioning of the EWC or, more broadly, the right of employees to information and consultation as part of the European social model.

During the first part of the meeting, the most important activities of the project were presented, including training in Turkey (June 2023) and a workshop in Serbia (November 2023).

During the meeting, Barbara Surdykowska (IPA) presented the methodology of the study on the basis of which national reports will be developed (PL, SK, PT, and ES) on the basis of which IPA will prepare a comparative report.

An important element is ongoing work in the European Parliament on the legislative report on amendments to the EWC Directive. This dynamic of legislative changes makes the project even more necessary.
