MetaTech Exchange: Bridging Industry 4.0 in Western Balkans (METATECH4.0)

About the project

Aligned with EU strategies for digitalization and innovation, the project addresses critical challenges facing the metal industry and VET sector in the Western Balkans. The initiative identifies key areas for intervention, like limited multilateral partnerships, skills gaps in digitalization and automation, and fragmented training initiatives. By fostering collaboration among VET organizations and stakeholders, the project aims to enhance the quality, relevance, and responsiveness of training programs, ultimately empowering metal workers with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digitalized environment.

The project sets the following objectives :

• Advance regional and transnational multi-stakeholder cooperation through a public-private partnership framework for better utilisation of ICT skills and tools relevant to Industry 4.0.

• Improve attractiveness and responsiveness of VET offers through piloting innovative best-practiced training models of ICT technologies adapted to the specifics of the metal industry.

• Raise awareness of Industry sector students and employees on lifelong learning paths in order to adapt knowledge and skills to technological progress and changing requirements of labour market. With a diverse consortium of partners from Poland, Germany, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project embodies the spirit of cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange.

By pooling together expertise and resources, the initiative seeks to create lasting impact, not only within the metal industry but also in advancing broader policy goals for the Western Balkans. Through its innovative approach to VET and digitalization, the project lays the foundation for a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable future for the metal industry.
