MetaTech Exchange: Bridging Industry 4.0 in Western Balkans (METATECH4.0)
Study Visit in Montenegro 16-18.06.2026
The METATECH4.0 expert study visit brought together representatives from partner organisations, vocational education institutions, academia, and the metal industry to exchange knowledge and good practices related to Industry 4.0, digitalisation, and innovation in the manufacturing sector.
Throughout the visit, participants explored examples of collaboration between education and industry through visits to vocational training centres, higher education institutions, and innovative manufacturing companies. These activities showcased modern teaching approaches, advanced production technologies, 3D printing applications, sustainable manufacturing practices, and circular economy initiatives.
The programme also included expert presentations and a roundtable discussion focused on the current challenges and opportunities facing the metal industry. Key topics included digital transformation, artificial intelligence, workforce upskilling, standardisation, and the importance of strengthening cooperation between education providers and businesses to better align vocational training with labour market needs.
The study visit provided an opportunity for partners to exchange experiences, identify common challenges, and promote innovative approaches that support the competitiveness, sustainability, and long-term development of the metal sector in line with the principles of Industry 4.0.
